Reload your save and make your way back into the castle, but make sure you don’t touch any of the guards along the way. Hop off the ledge and press ‘Select’ mid-air, then choose to save and quit the game.
No one will sell No One Lives Forever, so let's download it. No One Lives Forever, and its sequel A Spy In HARM’s Way, are infamously unavailable. Through the meticulous horrors of ownership rights across multiple publishers, and an apparent unwillingness by any involved to see it resolved, it’s not possible to buy either classic game. - Omg!!! This game was amazing!! Thank you!!!!!!! I can’t wait to try it.
Great! I've sent you a PM with the link to download the mod, let us know what you think!Omg!!! This game was amazing!! Thank you!!!!!!! I can’t wait to try it.Hey, did you check out my VR conversion of No One Lives Forever 2?- Sadly the NOLF series got screwed over by Activision, Fox and Warner Brothers. All three may own part of the IP for NOLF, refuse deal with anybody to bring the game back, but have the lawyers ready in case anybody tries. So there's no online stores that sell the games.

Of course there's other means of getting them, but shouldn't be posted in here (rules, etc). But the game is effectively abandoned, so it's a slightly different situation. - Sadly the NOLF series got screwed over by Activision, Fox and Warner Brothers. All that kojack said is true. However, what is also true is that it would take just one employee at Warner Bros., Activision, and/or 20th Century Fox, who gets the initiative to go down to the basement and dig out the paper copy of the contract detailing the rights to the game, in order to make it possible for a publisher to sell the full game again.
The situation is stuck not because there's an actual, verified legal impasse among the three companies, but only because of laziness. The deals struck around 2002 apparently predate digital records, so it's not just a matter of entering a keyword in the company's search engine to find out how things stand, but it takes someone willing to go through the filing cabinets and hunt for the legal papers. (Which is strangely appropriate, if you are familiar with the gameplay of NOLF2, especially the Siberia levels!)
I do believe that with enough interest from the community, someone will surely start to get enough motivation to straighten out the matter.Hey, did you check out my VR conversion of No One Lives Forever 2? - Come on guys.. Is everybody too busy playing Doom VFR?Hey, did you check out my VR conversion of No One Lives Forever 2?
- edited December 2017good work, i have the 1st game somewhere but not number 2..... however if i can source it i will definitely try the mod when i get my vr mancave up and running again next year
i look forward to hearing peoples experiences. its a shame that unlike doom BFG we cant just pop online to buy a copy of the gameFiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR

true.. i would not change it tho... (which is a cliché but there you have it. Biology is strange, change a few hormone levels and your entire outlook / perspective on life alters).

- Tried this tonight but couldn't get it to work. I unzipped the REAL mod files into the NOLF 2 folder. but when I start the program. the splash screen starts then gets smaller and smaller until it is just a small square in teh corner of my rift headset. If I then click start new game I get an error in windows that says
Client MFC Application has stopped working......
etc
No idea why it is not working.
SD - Thank you for being the first tester
The menu screen getting smaller is behaving as expected: at the same time you should also be seeing a 3D animation of Cate walking toward you. When Cate walks away, the title screen returns to normal size (slowly if you let it do its thing, or immediately if you click on something, in which case the animation is cut short).
A few points to check in order to diagnose the crash on new game:- Is your game updated to v1.3?
- Did you by any chance try to start a new game before installing the R.E.A.L. mod? Did it work?
- Did you install the game to the default location (i.e., into the 'Program Files (x86)' folder)?
Hey, did you check out my VR conversion of No One Lives Forever 2? - OK. I don't see Cate walking anywhere when I start the game just the menu screen getting smaller then bigger (seems I didn't wait long enough for it to get bigger. funny the things you forget).
Yes my game says it is 1.3
No. no game was started before installing this mod. In fact it was a fresh install.
No. I installed it on a different drive No One Lives Forever 2
Hope this helps mate.
SD - Since the application appears to be entering VR mode, but you don't see the scripted animation and the new game command is failing, it might be that for some reason the game is not finding all its resources.
Could you please open a command prompt, navigate (cd) to the installation dir, give the command
and send me the generated 'list.txt' file, so that I can check if anything is missing?Hey, did you check out my VR conversion of No One Lives Forever 2? - NOLF 1 was one of my favourite games: NOLF 2 not so much, because of the stupid respawning guards. But I'd still like to give it a try in VR.
- edited December 2017
I used to hate them too! Luckily there are only a couple of points throughout the game where the guards respawn continuously.the stupid respawning guards
Now I have to say that, being an older and more patient man, they don't bother me so much anymore. Also, having played through the game so many times to develop the mod, I understand why the designers felt the need to put them there. They do keep you on your toes.
I have sent you a link to download the mod, I hope that we can sort out the_soupdragon's problems too!Hey, did you check out my VR conversion of No One Lives Forever 2? - @the_soupdragon: I might have an idea about what's causing your issues. By any chance, do the entries on your menu screen have a black background? (It should be yellow/orange as in the banner at the beginning of this thread).Hey, did you check out my VR conversion of No One Lives Forever 2?
- Im at work at the moment so not a my gaming PC. I think the menus looked fine but when it shrank and then expanded the background was all black. Is that what you meant?
I will check later when I get home.
I will do this later too.Since the application appears to be entering VR mode, but you don't see the scripted animation and the new game command is failing, it might be that for some reason the game is not finding all its resources.

Can you recall if you had something like that?
For reference, the title screen should look like this instead:Hey, did you check out my VR conversion of No One Lives Forever 2? - 0

I had developed and tested the mod only against the official version of the game. As it turns out, the 'revival' version adds a lot of unnecessary files to the installation, and that tricks the application into loading an old copy of the effects library which is incompatible with my VR port.
I will code around this, and release a new build of the mod in the next few days that ignores the extra files. For now however, you can easily work around the issue. In your installation folder, you should find a subfolder named 'Game', and inside that, a file named 'CLIENTFX.FXD' (there's also a 'CLIENTFX' folder, but I'm talking about the file). Either delete just this specific 'CLIENTFX.FXD' file, or delete the whole 'Game' subfolder altogether (which will save you 1,75 GB of disk space). Don't worry about the contents of the 'Game' folder: they're all duplicate files and old versions, and they were needed only for working with the level editor.
Please let me know whether this solves your problem!!!Hey, did you check out my VR conversion of No One Lives Forever 2? - edited December 2017Luke I just did as you suggested in the post above (I deleted the entire Game folder) Just tried it. You sir are a genius The game looks great and plays fantastically. I Just need to get used to the controls.
Awesome work and thanks for the help getting it working. Looking forward to playing through the game once again. Lots of good memories here.
